Cable Refurbishing
Other than the manufacturer, we are the only authorized AmerCable Repair Center in the US.
• We use MSHA-approved mine site spooling devices that will not damage your cables.
• Our vulcanizing equipment has state-of-the-art pressure and temperature controls.
• Our vulcanizing and splicing techniques include the repair of the core helix, step or plaid welding techniques, 3-inch taper on all cables up to 15kv, and AmerCable-approved materials.
• We use digital measuring devices that are periodically calibrated to manufacturer recommendations with payout and take up a device that will allow top-of-reel to top-of-reel spooling.
• Cables will never be unspooled from the side of the reel.
• We use 75 kv DC high potential testers/thumpers that measure leakage in milliamperes and are inspected and calibrated to manufacturer recommendations.
• We are inspected by AmerCable once per quarter for quality control.
• All our welders are approved for helix construction splices.
• Our facility has online reporting of cables stored for repair with a daily update of repair status for customers with easy access to the information via http://xpresscable.com.
• We have MSHA Certified Electricians on staff and a staff that is MSHA-approved for underground work and inspection.
• Facility and all employees follow all OSHA and MSHA requirements.
• All work performed at our facilities is per AmerCable’s recommendations and specifications. Our facility stocks needed cable sizes to bring repair cables to full length if needed.
Long Wall Packages
Let us refurbish your Longwall cable assemblies. Our refurbishing process includes inspecting, cleaning, making necessary repairs, and adding new cable if necessary. We also inspect and replace couplers per your specifications.
Coupling Installations
We are certified by the coupler manufacturers to install couplers to your new or refurbished cables.
Cable Spooling & Testing
We offer the service of coming to your site, and spooling up your cable on one of our 5 spool trucks, we will then bring the cable to our Certified Repair Center where it will be tested. If during the testing process it is determined that your cable does not meet manufacturer’s minimum requirements it will be restored back to manufacturer’s specifications and stored on a wooden spool until it is needed.
High Potential Cable Testers (Hi-pot Testers) Repairs
Our portable lightweight DC Hi-Pot Testers are a superior tool for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance. Using our Hi-Pot Tester will help your company save on downtime when you are confronted with the task of trying to track down the problem area of a grounded cable.
Purchase Scrap Copper
Let us purchase your copper scrap. For your convenience we offer metal scrap bins that we deliver to your site. Our price is based on the Copper Comex as listed in the Wall Street Journal. The price per pound we offer includes the weight of the cable jacket. We issue a check, or credit your account for all purchases.
